BRAIDED: THE NEW COLLECTION
The Braided Collection pays tribute to the simplicity and depth of the most powerful knot of all: the braid. This ancient motif is a symbolic representation found in all cultures around the world since 4000bc, each with its unique meaning.
In the Braided Collection the knot becomes a statement of unity, representing the union of different elements, like the simple geometric shapes of the jewellery harmoniously marry with strong organic textures. This contrast offers a perfect balance between clean lines and rich surfaces.
This collection stands as an ode to diversity and the strength of unity, with the braid's intrinsic link to femininity and sisterhood. Some pieces are inspired by remarkable women who've crossed my path, their stories interwoven into the jewellery's essence.
As a commitment to sustainability, I've incorporated semi-precious stones sourced from vintage markets and reclaimed from dead stock. Crafted with vintage gemstones and recycled metals, these pieces are not only limited in their colorways and quantities but also part of our ongoing effort to reduce environmental impact.
To truly showcase and breathe life into this collection, I invited the exceptionally talented Samara aka @livingbysamara to interpret and style the jewellery in her unique way.
Samara infused these images with her soul, narrating the story of bread-making. The essential elements, such as flour, the bread-kneading board, raw braided shapes, and an oversized loaf in a basket, are the perfect props to showcase the jewellery. Samara's exceptional interpretation and styling added a unique and heartfelt dimension to the collection.
The choice to tell the story of bread-making, linking the jewellery to the symbolism of the braid and unity, was a creative stroke of genius.
In addition to these visual elements, Samara generously shared more about herself and her world in the interview below, don’t miss it, she’s a real force of nature and the kindest of soul.
